What: In the 17th and 18th centuries, a “salon” was an occasion for thinking folks to get together and discuss art, politics, philosophy, and other topics of interest. In honors, salons are held twice a month on Friday afternoons. Topics are introduced by an expert in the field and then opened for discussion.
Who/When: Any honors students are encouraged to attend!
Where: Jischke Honors Building Lounge
Why: Learning is fun, even more so when it’s informal and attended with your friends (and not to mention free popcorn). Think of salons as a miniature honors seminar or like a TED talk.
- Come together with other honors students and learn about the biology of beer, the mathematics of juggling, asteroid deflection, symbolism in Harry Potter, the truths about zombies, completing triathlons, and many other intriguing topics.
