Eligibility:

You must have an ISU GPA of 3.50 or above and at least 48 credits remaining before graduation (credits in addition to those in which you are currently enrolled).

Applying for Membership:

Complete the University Honors Program Application. Applications are due by February 2, 2024, to be considered for membership within the spring semester.

You will be notified of your acceptance/denial letter. If accepted, you will fulfill your College’s Honors Requirements. Students with more than one major will fulfill the honors requirements of the college of their primary major. Your college will contact you via email with information about a required orientation session.

Note: you will need to contact honors if you change colleges.

Students transferring to ISU from another post-secondary institution are eligible to participate in the Iowa State University Honors Program. The level of your participation in the Honors program will depend on how much post-secondary schooling you complete before coming to Iowa State. All transfer applicants must have a transfer GPA of 3.5 or above, have at least 60 credits remaining before graduation, and must complete a University Honors Transfer Application.

Applying for Membership:

If you have completed less than a year of coursework before coming to Iowa State and entering Iowa State during the fall semester, you may apply for the First-Year Honors Program. The requirements for admission are the same as those for students entering directly from high school.

If you have completed a year or more of coursework with a GPA of at least 3.5 before coming to Iowa State, you may apply to the University Honors Program with the University Honors Transfer Application.

You will be notified of your application’s status via e-mail. If accepted, you will need to attend your College Information Session and complete your Program of Study in your first semester at ISU.
